Creating an API key
How to create an API key on your exchange for Skyrexio: the permissions to tick, the IP whitelist, the passphrase and a short guide for each exchange.
Use this page when fast connect is not available for your exchange, or when you prefer to manage keys yourself. You create the key on the exchange website, then paste it into Skyrexio on the Manual API tab, see How to connect an exchange.
Exchange websites change their menus from time to time. The steps below are deliberately general: look for the same names, even if the buttons moved.
Permissions
Create a separate key for Skyrexio and give it only what trading needs:
- Read (account and balances).
- Trade on the market you use: Spot, Futures (derivatives), or both.
- Withdrawals: always off. Skyrexio never needs it. A key without withdrawal rights cannot move your money out, even if it leaks.
If an exchange offers a "withdraw" or "transfer out" permission, leave it unticked. If a form asks you to enable it for Skyrexio to work, stop and contact support.
Most exchanges require two-factor authentication on your account before they let you create a key. Turn it on first if the exchange asks.
IP whitelist
An IP whitelist makes the key work only from the listed addresses. It is the best protection for a trading key, and some exchanges require it.
For Binance, Gate.io, HTX, BitMart, XT and WEEX the connection window in Skyrexio shows the list of addresses with a copy button. Copy the list from there and paste it into the whitelist field of your key. Always use the list from the window and not an old copy, because the addresses can change.
For the other exchanges the window shows no list. On some exchanges a key without an IP restriction expires after a while. If your key stops working for that reason, create a new one and use Update API Key in Accounts.
Passphrase and memo
OKX, KuCoin, BloFin and WEEX ask you to choose a passphrase while you create the key. BitMart asks for a memo. Write it down together with the key and the secret: the exchange shows the secret only once, and the passphrase cannot be recovered. You paste all of them into Skyrexio. In the Skyrexio window the extra field is labelled Memo on all five exchanges, so a passphrase goes there too.
